Hackers often exploit security leaks in software. If such a leak is discovered, software suppliers quickly introduce a program modification on the market (an update or a patch). Make sure, therefore, that you always install the latest security patches for your operating system (e.g., Windows, Macintosh).

Also check regularly to see whether you’re using the latest version of your browser, as it will contain more recent and better security technology.

Don’t install any beta versions (test versions) of operating systems or browsers on your computer. Beta versions often contain errors and sometimes even have security leaks that are only fixed in the official version.
