Taking your debit, prepaid and/or credit card with you when you go abroad makes it easy for you to pay for things or withdraw cash there.

The table below contains a number of example amounts to give you an idea of the charges for using KBC payment cards abroad.

Using your payment card in other countries

An exchange commission will be charged for payments and cash withdrawals. It is included in the exchange rate appearing on your account statement or billing statement. However, you will not have to pay this commission if the transaction is in euros.

The card that costs you the least to make a payment will depend on the amount.

  • Within the euro area, it's cheaper to withdraw cash by bank card than by credit card or prepaid card.
  • Outside the euro area, it's always cheaper to make payments or larger cash withdrawals of 125 euros or more (or the equivalent) using one of our credit cards than by KBC Bank Card (Maestro).

 

What to do if your payment card is lost, stolen or retained by an ATM?

If your bank, credit or prepaid card is lost or stolen, you should call Card Stop immediately on 070 344 344 (when in Belgium) or +32 70 344 344 (when abroad). Your card will be stopped immediately to prevent misuse. Card Stop can be contacted at any time. In addition, advise your KBC Bank branch as soon as possible, and make sure the police draw up an official report if your card is stolen.

KBC Flex Budget is an open-ended credit facility linked to the KBC Silver Credit Card, KBC Gold Credit Card or KBC Platinum Credit Card and used as an additional means for drawing credit.

Lender and credit card issuer: KBC Bank NV. Subject to your card or credit application being approved by KBC Bank NV.

The annual percentage rates of charge of 12,44% for a KBC Silver Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget, 12,43% for a KBC Gold Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget and 11,45% for a KBC Platinum Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget are calculated on the basis of the following assumptions:

  • *the standard credit amount is 2,500 euros for a KBC Silver Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget, 5,000 euros for a KBC Gold Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget and 7,500 euros for a KBC Platinum Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget;
  • *the stated credit amount is drawn down immediately and in full by means of payment at a retailer; paying at retailers within the SEPA is the most common way the card is used;
  • *the variable debit rate of interest stands at 10,09% for a KBC Silver Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget, 9,65% for a KBC Gold Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget and 8,63% for a KBC Platinum Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget
  • *the fee for the credit card is 22 euros for a KBC Silver Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget, 55 euros for a KBC Gold Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget and 88 euros for a KBC Platinum Credit Card with KBC Flex Budget;
  • *the credit has a term of one year;
  • *the credit amount is repaid in equal monthly instalments (at the end of each period); debit interest is calculated based on projected credit use and principal repayments.
