What does this job entail?

The power of data is key to KBC's strategy. We use our data to give our customers the best possible experience without sacrificing their privacy. As GDPR Data Steward you will connect our business position to the data analysts' perspective. Together with the policy officers from our Chief Data Management Office, you will ensure that everything we do in Data & Analytics is qualitative and compliant with GDPR regulations.

You will join the Transfer & Data department, where you will focus on the data layer of our Belgian business unit. You will be part of an enthusiastic data community. Together we set high standards and we are not afraid to challenge each other, but we are also there to help each other.

What do we expect from you?

  • Policy officers in the Chief Data Management Office write the GDPR guidelines for KBC. Together, you will put these guidelines into practice and you will ensure they are implemented in the data layer of our Belgian business unit.
  • You will screen and evaluate GDPR metadata for new data coming in. And when a regulation changes, you will test your existing GDPR metadata against it.
  • You will monitor current GDPR labelling in the various data layers. If you see that something needs to be changed, you will implement the necessary updates.
  • Together with your Belgian business unit Data Layer colleagues, you will ensure that all GDPR processes run properly end-to-end. You will also monitor the quality of existing metadata used in these processes.
  • For any incidents arising in data deliveries, you will follow up to ensure a solution is put in place by coordinating the necessary tasks.
  • You will be the contact person for everything related to data privacy for other data stewards within KBC. You will support them to extract valuable business insights from data while ensuring conformity to GDPR regulations.

Your key strengths?

  • You have a Master's in Business Administration or Commercial Engineering and have at least 3 years of experience in the field.
  • You have the skills to take an idea to a tangible result including managing stakeholders, networking and project management. In unforeseen circumstances or if a situation changes, you will adapt and focus on pragmatic solutions that create business value.
  • You know how to articulate your insights, arguments or complex topics clearly and persuasively. You challenge your colleagues in a positive way, you ask poignant questions, and give constructive feedback in Dutch and English, you are fluent in both languages.
  • Your affinity with data, analytics and GDPR motivates you to take initiative and be proactive.
  • You enjoy analysing and conceptual thinking, and neither are you new to data analysis. You can't wait to extend your knowledge and expertise in this field. Experience with SAS, SQL, Qlik Sense or Python is an asset.

What can we offer you?

  • You will play a key role in the roll out of our data strategy.
  • With us at KBC you can expect superb onboarding, very friendly colleagues and a great atmosphere at work.
  • Throughout your career at KBC we will encourage you to continually grow as a person and as a professional. You can follow training courses to further hone your hard and soft skills.
  • You will be based at our Leuven office, which is easy to reach by public transport, and you can work from home some of the time if you prefer.
  • Flexible working hours help you to create a good work-life balance.
  • We will offer you a permanent contract and a competitive salary, with additional non-statutory benefits. Sounds familiar? Of course, you read this in every job ad. KBC makes the difference for you with an extensive flex package. Too extensive to explain here. We will be happy to discuss the various benefits – large and small – with you during your interview.

Can you help us make the difference?

I love the challenge of making sure we can work data driven within the contours imposed by GDPR. What an energy you get out of working with data when you manage to make GDPR principles and data driven working work together!
