What does this job entail?
KBC Asset Management, the Belgian market leader in asset management, manages more than 170 billion euro in assets. They include 400 investment funds – under UCITS and AIF licences – with funds domiciled in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Bulgaria. Our clients are affluent individuals as well as institutional clients.
One of our largest challenges is in responding to the increasing number of requirements related to data quality and data-quality governance, impressed upon us by the KBC Group and by regulators. They involve producing auditable documentation showing that we comply with regulations and policy requirements such as the Enterprise Data Governance Framework and BCBS 239. At the same time, we are expanding the scope to other areas, such as commercial data and management data.
Another important point is the optimisation of the entire Data Life Cycle. Why is new data needed? What is the added value? How accessible is our data? How can we make our data available? How do we organise the timely deletion of data?
To tackle all these challenges, we are expanding our team. Will you soon be joining as our Data Quality Officer? And become part of a team where everyone is encouraged to share knowledge, form their own opinions and contribute to continuous improvement.
What do we expect from you?
- You implement and support our data governance.
- You map out our reporting landscape and make an inventory of its characteristics (definitions, attributes, origins, systems, ownership roles). In doing so, you help us to meet the requirements of regulations such as BCBS 239.
- You help business teams set up initial data characteristics in the Collibra data platform.
- You’re the back-up for incidents with the supply of data to supervisors.
- You treat such incidents as having the highest priority, aware that our regulatory reports are closely monitored and vitally important in the compliance framework.
- You also search for structural solutions in our reporting processes and systems.
- You stay up to date with frequent, important changes to our data, usually occurring when new products are developed or IT adjustments are implemented. These may involve, for example, new data elements. You monitor their impact on data quality.
- You offer support for reporting on data quality. Management counts on you and your colleagues for complete reporting, on the current state of affairs and on the progress that has been made in this domain. Your reports are developed, produced and analysed on a regular basis.
Your key strengths?

- You have a bachelor’s or a master’s degree and an outspoken interest in data quality, on both abstract and applied levels.
- You’re familiar with concepts such as ownership roles, lineage and data-lifecycle management. Do you have any knowledge of or experience with asset management? It’s certainly a benefit, but not a must.
- You – just like your colleagues – enjoy working with others. You take a hands-on approach.
- You work accurately with an eye for detail and look at input critically. You enjoy setting up expanded documentation. Knowledge of the Collibra data platform is an added value.
- You always communicate clearly and in a structured manner in English, whether speaking or writing. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
What can we offer you?
- You’re assured of an excellent onboarding and a pleasant, collegial work atmosphere.
- Throughout your entire career at KBC, we encourage you to grow as a person and as a professional. You can follow training courses in which you further sharpen your hard and soft skills.
- Our offices are easily accessible by public transport. You’re also welcome to partly work from home.
- Flexible work hours help you to balance your work and your private life.
- We offer you a permanent contract and a competitive salary, supplemented by extralegal benefits. Sounds familiar? Of course. It’s what you read in every job description. At KBC, we make a difference with our extended flex package. It’s too extensive to go into details here. However, we will happily discuss the various benefits—large and small—at your interview.
Can you help us make the difference?
I enjoy the challenges and learning opportunities in Data Quality. It’s a good way to develop technical problem solving skills and a broad sense of data quality in KBC. The variety of tasks is interesting and you never feel like you do the same thing every day.
