What does this job entail?

KBC Asset Management, the Belgian market leader in asset management, manages more than 170 billion euro in assets. They include 400 investment funds under UCITS and AIF licences with funds domiciled in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Bulgaria. Our clients include affluent individuals as well as institutional clients.

One of our greatest challenges is the increasing number of requirements related to data quality and data-quality governance, as set by the KBC Group and by regulators. Examples include the production of auditable documentation to show we comply with regulations and policy requirements such as the Enterprise Data Governance Framework and BCBS 239. At the same time, the scope is expanding to include other areas, such as commercial data and management data.

Another important point is the optimisation of the complete Data Life Cycle. What is the need for – or the added value of – new data? How accessible is our data? How can we make our data available? How do we organise the timely removal of data?

In the near future, we are launching different projects to increase our data governance and life cycle maturity. Would you like to be part of them? You’ll join a team where everyone is encouraged to share their knowledge, form their own opinions and contribute to continuous improvement.

What do we expect from you?

  • You manage – or actively contribute to - projects related to data quality.
  • You take on the role of Data Expert for everything in our operational processes that is related to data quality.
  • You monitor the impact of frequent, important changes, such as new database elements or a new database structure, made in the framework of projects on data quality.
  • You’re involved in the Data Life Cycle Management of all projects in our portfolio. What are, for example, the needs relating to data distribution, data archiving or storage capacity? You signal what is needed in the appropriate reporting.
  • You support business teams in taking on their responsibilities related to data quality. You help them to evaluate risks and advise them on how they can avoid issues or solve them on a structural level.

Your key strengths?

Confident businesswoman working on laptop at her workplace at modern office.Blurred background.
  • You have a master’s degree.
  • Your previous experience with data-quality projects (or the equivalent) has acquainted you with concepts such as ownership roles, lineage, Data Life Cycle Management and BCBS 239. Are you also familiar with asset management? That’s not a must, but it’s definitely an added value.
  • Your analysis skills are among your greatest strengths. You know the tools and methods used for data and/or process management.
  • You look forward to a role in which you take on project management and work closely with others. You take a hands-on approach.
  • You communicate clearly and convincingly in English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

What can we offer you?

  • You’re assured of an excellent onboarding and a pleasant, collegial work atmosphere.
  • Throughout your entire career at KBC, we encourage you to grow as a person and as a professional. You can follow training courses in which you further sharpen your hard and soft skills.
  • Our offices are easily accessible by public transport. You’re also welcome to partly work from home.
  • Flexible work hours help you to balance your work and your private life.
  • We offer you a permanent contract and a competitive salary, supplemented by extralegal benefits. Sounds familiar? Of course. It’s what you read in every job description. At KBC, we make a difference with our extended flex package. It’s too extensive to go into details here. However, we will happily discuss the various benefits—large and small—at your interview.

Can you help us make the difference?

I enjoy the challenges and learning opportunities in Data Quality. It’s a good way to develop technical problem solving skills and a broad sense of data quality in KBC. The variety of tasks is interesting and you never feel like you do the same thing every day.
