What does this job entail?
At KBC we use a number of statistical models that we develop in-house. These cover the domains of credit, markets, finance, asset management and insurance. Often they are used for risk measurement, but also for other purposes. We develop these models with traditional techniques as well as with AI techniques.
As a Model Validator in the domain of credits you … well … validate these models. You check and challenge them, qualitatively and quantitatively. The end result? Better and stronger models that allow us to make good decisions.
What do we expect from you?
- You validate models, independently from a to z.
- You present your findings to model owners, Chief Risk Officers and Chief Financial Officers. Based on your analyses and your knowledge of regulations and business practices you give substantiated answers to the questions ‘Can we use this model? Does it do what it is meant to?’
- You are in frequent contact with colleagues in Belgium and abroad, and sometimes also external parties like auditors and regulators. So you build an interesting network.
- You contribute to discussions regarding methodology.
Your key strengths?
- You have a master’s degree or a PhD in (applied) sciences: economics, mathematics, physics, engineering, … Experience with risk management or finance is a valuable plus, but not a must. We will provide you with training and coaching when you start.
- You communicate effectively in English.
- Giving clear advice regarding complex issues? No problem for you.
- You like to work independently. Always with respect for deadlines.
- Just like your colleagues you like to help others and to continue to learn on the job.
