What does this job entail?
In our dealing rooms, large number numerous FX, bonds, equities and derivatives are traded on a daily basis. These activities involve certain financial risks that must be managed responsibly. As a Market Risk Manager, you will strengthen the team responsible for managing those risks.
If you join us for a conversation, we will gladly explain how we:
• act as a partner for our dealing rooms, traders and sales dealers, using our expertise on trading market risk to their benefit;
• adapt, anticipate and stay up to date with any changes in our field of work;
• offer different stakeholders insights into risks via monitoring, analyses, advice, reporting and follow-ups;
• continuously improve our systems and processes with the help of technical experts and colleagues who think along with us on a conceptual level;
work together, moving forward as a single team while giving our staff members the room to organise their work independently.
What do we expect from you?
- You deepen your expertise in risk management, especially trading market risk.
- You contribute to our core activities: risk identification, measurement, analysis, reporting, and follow-up, ensuring business stakeholders and senior management are informed and able to assess their impact.
- You help ensure our control environment meets all standards.
- You follow developments in the financial markets.
- You support us in working in a more data-driven, better-connected and more digital manner — an important contribution to the transformation of the risk function within KBC.
Your key strengths?
- You hold a master’s degree or PhD in a strongly mathematical field and are now looking for a challenge where your analytical skills can shine.
- You enjoy continuous learning and taking initiative. You like diving into new topics, and financial markets interest you.
- You like working with tools such as Matlab, SAS, SQL or QlikSense, and are curious about our risk tooling. Knowledge of Python is a strong asset.
- Colleagues know you as someone who thinks conceptually, takes a pragmatic approach and enjoys collaborating.
- You communicate your insights clearly and convincingly and are fluent in Dutch and English.
People with different backgrounds enrich a team. If this role appeals to you, we would love to get to know you. Together, we will explore whether there is a good match!
What can we offer you?
- In addition to on-the-job learning, we invest in you with an exceptional range of training and development opportunities, encouraging you to keep growing personally and professionally.
- You receive a permanent contract and a competitive salary, complemented by a wide selection of extra-legal benefits.
- Our workplaces are easily accessible by public transport. Regardless of COVID measures, you can also work from home part-time, if you wish.
- Thanks to flexible working hours, you can balance your work and private life — one of the reasons we received the Top Employer 2021 certificate. We’d love to tell you the other reasons during our introductory meeting.
Can you help us make the difference?
My job offers a good balance between analysis, technical work and learning about financial instruments and markets. I enjoy looking at risk management from different angles and extracting the most relevant information for various stakeholders.
