How AI plots out your learning path
We already need tomorrow’s skills today. That’s why KBC invests so heavily in training. In this way, our employees can develop the skills they need to feel at home in the ‘digital first’ context of today and tomorrow alike.
Everyone learns together
Since the summer of 2020, employees have been able to use the Stipple learning and talent platform. Stipple works with artificial intelligence (AI) to plot out a personalised learning path for everyone.
Employees map out their existing digital, functional and personal skills. Learning experiences are then offered on that basis. Our ambition is to sharpen up future-proof skills right across the organisation.
Kris De Nul, General Manager of HR Human Progression and Portfolio Management at KBC, explains that this is how the organisation is responding to a new environment – one in which newcomers are challenging established businesses and clients expect more user-friendly, problem-free service and quicker decision-making.
‘All that demands a highly resilient organisation and a huge amount of adaptability on the part of our employees. We’re creating new kinds of assignment all the time, while other employees are seeing their tasks change or even disappear. The challenge for us is to guide our staff in this environment and to match up their interests, skills and knowledge to future needs.’
With a clear learning strategy.
‘The time needed to close a knowledge gap through training has increased more than tenfold in the space of just four years. It took a company an average of three days to do it in 2014. By 2018 that had risen to no fewer than 36 days. A massive shift is needed in the way companies approach talent’, says Ian Bird, IBM Executive Partner, Talent & Transformation, who was involved with the development of Stipple.
It means that businesses need a culture of continuous learning with the focus on a personalised learning experience for the employee. Which is precisely what KBC has set out to achieve. Thanks to Stipple and a clear learning strategy, we’re putting that ambition into practice for our staff.
