Return or buy your bike

Give your bike a new lease of life

If your lease is coming to an end, you may be starting to wonder what to do with your bike.
How and when do I return it? What are KBC Autolease’s guidelines on damage? Can I buy my bike? Look in our FAQs for answers to your questions.

Taking over your leased bike? All your questions answered.

Can I buy my bike at the end of my lease?

Yes. Your contract includes the option of purchasing your bike for a great price at the end of your lease. We’ll remind you of this two months before your contract ends, so you have time to decide whether you want to buy your bike.

You can find out more about the purchase value of your bike with MoveSmart in KBC Mobile.

What am I entitled to when I buy my bike?

When you buy your bike, it comes with a one-year warranty, plus you get to keep any options and accessories that were included in your lease contract.

How do I re-register my high-speed bike?

Your bike is currently still registered in the name of KBC Autolease. Since you will be the bike’s new owner, it needs to be re-registered in your name.

You received the first part of the registration certificate at the start of your bike lease. KBC Autolease will send you the second part when the lease ends.

  1. Re-register your bike with your insurer
Take both parts of the registration certificate to your insurer so it can re-register the bike for you via WebDIV.

If you’ve lost one part of the registration certificate:
    • Get a certificate of loss from the police
    • Give that certificate and the other part of the registration certificate to your insurer
    • Your insurer can then complete the registration process
  2. Return your old number plate

Please note: you can only ride your high-speed bike once it has been registered in your name. Riding your bike is not permitted while the vehicle registration certificate is invalid.

Can a family member buy my bike?

No. You (the contractual rider) can buy the bike, but others (like your partner, family members or friends) can’t. They can only buy the bike at the retail price from KBC Autolease Remarketing. Contact us at remarketing@kbcautolease.be for more help with this.

Returning your leased bike? All your questions answered.

When do I return my bike?

You can only return your bicycle on the end date of your bicycle leasing contract.

What do I need to return along with my bike?

You must return the bike to KBC Autolease in a well-cared-for condition, together with:

  • All the bike’s original options (including battery and charger for electric bikes)
  • Number plate (high-speed bikes)
  • Any official documents for the bike (including the registration certificate (part I and/or part II), certificate of conformity and manuals)
  • Any keys to the bike
  • Unlock code (Stromer or other specific types of bike)
What can I keep?

You may keep any accessories such as your bike helmet, bike bag and fluorescent vest, as well as your bike lock. If you’re unsure whether you can keep an accessory, check MoveSmart in KBC Mobile for more details or contact us at contact@kbcautolease.be.

How and where do I return my bike?

You can choose where to have the bike collected, but first check with your employer for any guidelines. This return form will tell us where we can collect your bike.

Did you check the bike for damage?

When the bike is returned, the carrier checks it for damage. They also check whether everything is present (documents, chargers, batteries, etc.). If this check reveals that something is wrong, you may be charged.
