Short summary
This internship focuses on researching the intersection of offensive security and artificial intelligence. The intern will research AI-driven tools that can act as sparring partners, automate penetration testing, and retest known vulnerabilities to verify resolution. The goal is to produce a proof-of-concept (PoC) demonstrating if and how AI can enhance penetration testing capabilities.
Detailed description
The intern will investigate how AI can be used in offensive security scenarios, particularly in three key areas:
1. AI Sparring Partner
Researching whether it is possible to use an AI tool for penetration testers to discuss ideas and potential attacks with, deepening their understanding of novel attack techniques in the process.
2. Vulnerability Retesting
Design an AI system that can automatically retest previously discovered vulnerabilities to verify patch effectiveness. The AI system should be able to not only retest the exact vulnerabilities but also test some variations to the discovered vulnerability.
The intern will be expected to:
• Conduct a literature review and competitive analysis of existing tools and research.
• Design and implement a PoC using open-source tools and custom AI models.
• Document findings, challenges, and future directions.
Devlopment goals: By the end of the internship, the intern should be able to:
1. Understand if and how AI can be applied in offensive security.
2. Build a working PoC demonstrating the potential of using AI for retesting vulnerabilities.
3. Present a well-documented report including methodology, results, and future recommendations.
4. Gain hands-on experience with both offensive security tools and AI development.
