Mac OS X

New Java update 1.7.0_55

What's the problem?

The problem occurs after upgrading the Java plug-in (dated 16/04/2014). If you enter your PIN/password using the Shift key or Shift Lock, you probably see the 'Security software problem' alert.

The solution

1. If your PIN/password contain only letters, don't use these keys. You can also enter your PIN/password in lower case.

2. If your PIN/password contain numbers, use the numerical keypad, not the Shift key or Shift Lock key in combination with the numbers across the top of the keyboard.

If your keyboard does not have a numerical keypad – it's usually on the right of the keyboard –  change your PIN/password temporarily to a letters-only one.

How to change your password:

  • Use Finder to go to the ‘Programs’ folder
  • Open the ‘O4BMac’ folder
  • Launch the ‘O4BMacControlPanel’ application
  • Double-click ‘Change password’ and enter your password. You can then change the password to lower case.
