What is a KBC-Life Save Plan?

The KBC-Life Save Plan lets you gradually build up a nest egg for yourself or someone else (such as your child or grandchild). You decide when and how much to put in. You receive a guaranteed rate of interest on each net deposit until the end date of your contract. This rate is currently 2%. The interest rate on the amounts you’ve already paid in is guaranteed until the end of your contract, though it may change for future deposits.

In addition to the certainty of a minimum return, you could receive an annual profit share. The profit share is not guaranteed and can vary from year to year, depending on the economic situation and the results of KBC Insurance. KBC Insurance is neither legally nor contractually obliged to share its profits.

This product allows your savings to grow at your own pace, while ensuring you remain in control. With the KBC-Life Save Plan, you save for a period of at least 10 years. At the start, you are the one who decides when to receive your savings.

Saving for someone else?

The KBC-Life Save Plan also gives you the opportunity to save for someone else, such as your child or grandchild. You designate one or more beneficiaries who’ll receive the accumulated savings when the contract ends or if you die before then.

In the meantime, you retain control over the contract and the amount accumulated under it. If you like, the money can always be paid out earlier, subject to the applicable conditions, taxes and charges.

What are the risks?

The risk indicator is 3 on a scale of 1 (lower risk) to 7 (higher risk).

KBC-Life Save Plan is covered by the Belgian deposit-protection scheme for guaranteed-interest life insurance. The scheme is triggered if it is established that KBC Insurance has defaulted. The protection currently amounts to 100 000 euros per policyholder for all reserves combined that are held with KBC Insurance under protected guaranteed-rate life insurance contracts.

If you withdraw your reserves early, you may receive less than what you’ve put in due to the deduction of taxes and charges.
