What is the KBC Investment Plan?

The KBC Investment Plan is a way of investing an amount of your choice every month.

Tap into the expertise of fund managers

Your returns are automatically reinvested

Adjust the size of your investments and pause, stop and restart your plan

Investing on a monthly basis = investing at an average entry price

The amount you invest in a fund each month can be indexed annually

If you want to set up an investment plan, you can either choose a broad all-in-one fund or focus on a specific theme that you currently find important. This lets you determine the specific focus of your investment. If you’d rather invest in a fund that’s suited to your personal risk preference, you should opt for investment advice instead. In both cases, you leave the management of your investment to the fund managers at KBC Asset Management.

With an investment plan, you don't pay anything extra apart from the usual charges for the investment funds selected. Entry charges are usually between 2% and 3.5%.

Why go for a KBC Investment Plan?

More than half a million investment plans have been set up at KBC Bank in the past few years. It’s proving to be an attractive way to try and counter the effect of inflation, as rising prices can cause the money in your savings account to lose value every year:

  • Suppose you have 1 000 euros in your savings account
  • Saving for a year at an interest rate of say 1% earns you 10 euros in interest
  • If prices go up by 4% over the same period, the amount you’ve set aside is now worth 40 euros less in terms of purchasing power
  • The outcome: 1 000 + 10 - 40, i.e. your 1 000 euros is only worth 970 euros in purchasing power within barely a year

By investing some of your money in an investment plan, you aim to achieve a higher return than the rate of inflation. Of course, this also entails certain risks and costs, so your return is not guaranteed. However, over a period of five years or more, the stock market has pretty much always outperformed inflation in the past.
