Already got a KBC Visa Card?

Your Visa Silver card will soon be replaced automatically by a similar one from Mastercard®.

However, you can continue using your current card as usual until you receive your new card and use it for the first time.

We're giving our KBC credit cards a new look when we replace our Visa Silver cards with an alternative version from Mastercard®. Good to know: you'll also be able to pay contactless with these new cards.

What does that mean for holders of Visa Silver cards now?

Your Visa Silver card will be replaced by a new KBC Silver Credit Card, which is being provided in collaboration with Mastercard.

Thanks to the KBC Flex Budget, you'll also have the possibility of choosing the time you want to take to repay your balance, just like you did with your Visa Silver card. You can choose to pay off your balance over several months or repay the amount you owe automatically in one go.

  • Your PIN
  • The settlement date
  • Your credit facility (if you had one)
  • Your card limit
  • The fee you pay for your credit card
  • The insurance linked to your credit card

What will change?

  • Your card number
  • The expiry date
  • Your three-digit security code

You can continue using your current Visa Silver card until you receive your new Mastercard-branded credit card and use it for the first time.

You could use your new card for the first time when paying in a shop, withdrawing cash from an ATM or paying online with your card reader (confirming a purchase via MobilePay is not enough).

If you still have an outstanding credit balance on your Visa Silver card, we'll transfer it automatically to your new KBC Silver Credit Card.

Your Silver Mastercard, accepted worldwide

One of the benefits of credit cards is that they're accepted worldwide. The switch from Visa to Mastercard changes nothing in that respect.

When will my Visa Silver card be replaced?

  • Option 1: Your current Visa Silver card expires before May 2019
    We will replace it before the expiry date.
  • Option 2: Your current Visa Silver card expires after May 2019
    You will receive your new credit card early. We will inform you in good time as to when exactly that will happen.
     

Should your Visa Silver card get lost, stolen or damaged in or after May 2018, it will be replaced automatically by a new KBC Silver Credit Card bearing the Mastercard logo.

Why are the Visa Silver cards being withdrawn?

We are trying to simplify our offering as much as possible and, therefore, have decided to work exclusively with Mastercard. We will cease working with Visa on 31 March 2019.

As a result, all KBC credit cards will bear the Mastercard logo in future.

What will replace my KBC Silver Credit Card with Visa logo?

If you hold a Visa-branded KBC Silver Credit Card, it will be replaced by a KBC Silver Credit Card bearing a Mastercard logo.

You will, of course, keep all the features of your old card.

How does the new Mastercard-branded KBC Silver Credit Card differ from the old Visa-branded card?

  • The new credit cards will have the Mastercard logo on them instead of the Visa logo.
    There are no major differences in either of the card acceptance networks.
  • Mastercard is accepted in 210 countries, just like Visa.
  • You can pay contactless with the new KBC credit cards.

Do I get a new card number?

Yes, you do. The number on your new Mastercard-branded KBC Silver Credit Card differs from the one on your old Visa-branded card. So, remember to update your payment details for services or subscriptions paid for using your credit card (such as Netflix, Apple ID, PayPal, etc.).

Do I get a new PIN for my card?

No, you don't. The PIN you chose for your Visa Silver card can still be used for your new Mastercard Silver card.

I have an optional KBC Flex Budget facility. What do I need to know about this credit facility?

Do I get to keep the same one with my new card?

Yes, you do. The existing credit facility linked to the Visa Silver card continues as before and also continues to be called the KBC Flex Budget facility. Therefore, you only receive a new card.

If a KBC Flex Budget facility (credit facility) is linked to your old Visa-branded KBC Silver Credit Card, it will continue as before on your new Mastercard-branded card. Therefore, you only receive a new card.

Do the credit terms and conditions change?

They remain the same because your KBC Flex Budget facility continues as before. You only receive a new card with a Mastercard logo on it.

What happens if I have an outstanding credit balance on the %%product.flexbudgetfacility%% that is linked to my old Visa Silver card?

Your KBC Flex Budget facility continues as before, which means that the outstanding balance remains unchanged. You continue to pay off the balance each month in the way you had chosen.

I've bought things on my Visa Silver card that are covered by purchase protection and an extended warranty. Do I retain this insurance cover on my new Mastercard Silver card?

Yes, you do. The insurance linked to your Visa Silver card continues as before on your new Mastercard-branded KBC Silver Credit Card. If you have used your Visa card to make purchases, the items concerned will continue to be covered under the original insurance.

I've made a reservation (to rent a car) using my Visa Silver card. Since then, my card has been replaced by a KBC Silver Credit Card. What should I do?

Because the number for your Silver Mastercard is not the same as your Visa Silver card, you will have to change your card number in any reservation already made.

Where can I pay contactless with a Mastercard-branded KBC Silver Credit Card?

At payment terminals in Belgium and abroad displaying the contactless payment icon.

Do the settlement dates for my transactions and for repaying them remain the same?

Yes, we only replace your card. Settlement is carried out in the same way and at the same time as before.

Will my card fee change?

No, it stays the same with your new Silver Mastercard.

  • 1 euro a month for a Mastercard-branded KBC Silver Credit Card plus a KBC Plus Account
  • 1.83 euros a month for a Mastercard-branded KBC Silver Credit Card if you have a KBC Current Account

I received a new credit card, but have forgotten my PIN. What should I do?

Contact your KBC branch or KBC Live. A member of staff there can arrange for you to choose a new PIN at an ATM or for a new one to be posted to your home address.

What if I don't want a new KBC Silver Credit Card?

You can always cancel your Visa Silver card by contacting your KBC branch.

It may be that your Silver Mastercard has already been sent to you, but we will disable it as quickly as possible if you've cancelled it.

What happens if your Visa Silver card has been lost or stolen?

Should your Visa Silver card get lost, stolen or damaged in or after May 2018, it will be replaced automatically by a new Silver Mastercard. 

My Visa Silver card expires before May 2019. When exactly will my card be replaced?

You will receive a new Mastercard-branded KBC Silver Credit Card roughly two months before the expiry date on your Visa Silver card.

My Visa Silver card expires after the end of May 2019. When exactly will my card be replaced?

Your Visa Silver card will be replaced before its expiry date by a Mastercard-branded KBC Silver Credit Card sometime between May 2018 and March 2019.

You will be informed as to when exactly your card will be replaced. You can then expect to receive your new credit card about a month after being notified.

Both me and my partner have a Visa Silver card. The cards have a joint limit but different expiry dates. When will our cards be replaced?

They will be replaced at the same time. The new Mastercard-branded KBC Silver Credit Cards can be used from the moment you receive them. Be sure to cut up your old Visa Silver cards when the new cards arrive with you.

Tip: Insert your new KBC Silver Credit Card into an ATM and select the preferred language to activate your card. 

We will inform you as to when exactly your card will be replaced. You can then expect to receive your new credit card about a month after being notified.
